The agreement

What each
side owes
the other.

Every arrangement like this has a deal inside it. Most leave it unwritten, which means it becomes whatever the stronger side remembers. Here is ours, in full.

You are paying a person, not a company. Your agreement is with them, and what we can do if they break it is publish that they did.

The founder commits to

What they owe you.

  • Publish a written update every week, including the weeks when nothing worked.
  • Run one funded experiment a month and publish the result whichever way it lands.
  • Keep the numbers on your page verified, and say which level of checking each one has had.
  • Spend the experiment money on the experiment, and upload the receipts.
  • Give notice before changing the split, and never change it mid-month.
You get

What backing buys.

  • Everything the founder has agreed to show at your tier, for as long as you are backing them.
  • A say in what gets tried next. The founder still decides.
  • Your name on the results you paid for, if you want it — not built yet: a scorecard names whoever wrote the idea and nobody else.
  • The right to stop at any time — by replying to the founder’s receipt while accounts are still closed, and from your account once they open.
The founder gets

What they can count on.

  • Leave whenever you like, with one week's notice, and no reason owed to anyone. Most people who stop are not passing judgement — money changes, attention moves, five months is a long time — and a founder reading a departure should assume that before anything else.
  • Your numbers stay yours. We publish the range you agree to and nothing else, ever.
  • Correct a result you think is wrong, in public, beside it — at the same size as the result.
  • Nobody can buy influence over what you build. No tier, at any price, binds you to anything.
  • Take the experiments and the results with you if you go. They are your record, not ours.
Their numbers

What we do with them.

  • Read-only, and only what you connect: we cannot move money, change anything, or see who a customer is. No connection is built yet, so today the only thing we hold is what you send us — an export or a screenshot, read and dated by a person.
  • Only the band is published. The underlying figures are seen by one person here and are never shown, sold, or shared.
  • Disconnect at any time. Doing so delists you rather than exposing anything. There is nothing to disconnect yet: what we hold is whatever documents you have already sent.
  • If the pilot ends, what we hold is deleted within thirty days — the documents today, and the connection revoked as well once there is one.
You do not get

What it never buys.

  • Equity, options, or any share of the company.
  • Interest, revenue, profit, or any payment back.
  • Anything you could sell, transfer, or leave to someone.
  • A vote that binds the founder, at any tier or any amount.

This list is not a disclaimer bolted on at the end. It is enforced in the software: the tier builder has no field that could express any of it, and the tests fail the build if one ever appears. Why we cannot offer more than this.

What staying earns.

Time compounds into access and standing. It never compounds into money, and it never becomes a claim on anything.

  1. From the first monthYou can read every idea that has been suggested for this founder, including the ones they turned down and why.
  2. After three monthsYour name appears on the results you helped pay for, if you want it to, and it stays there whether the experiment worked or not. A scorecard names whoever wrote the idea and nobody else today — there is no supporter line for a name to go on — so this is a promise ahead of the surface that would carry it.not built yet
  3. After six monthsYou get first refusal on a seat when the founder opens their weekly call, ahead of anyone who joined later. There is no calendar and no call yet, so this is a place in a queue rather than a date — it starts mattering when a founder opens one.not built yet
  4. After a yearA written year in review from the founder — what they tried, what it cost, what they would not do again. Sent to the people who stayed the whole way. No pledge has been recorded here yet and there is no founder area to write in, so nothing has been sent and nobody is a year in.not built yet

Marked promises are not built yet. The pilot has no accounts, no ballot, no calendar and no second payment path, so anything needing one of those cannot be delivered however much you pay — if a founder honours it, that is them doing it by hand. We have left these on the tiers rather than quietly removing them, because deleting a promise would hide the gap from anyone who had already paid for it.

If a founder does not hold up their end.

If a founder misses two weekly updates they are delisted: the pledge button comes off their page, the miss is stated on it, and no new pledges can start until the cadence resumes. What we cannot do is stop an existing charge — the money is taken by their payment provider and we have no access to it, so your standing payment continues until you or they end it. Telling you we had stopped it would be describing a lever we do not hold. If a founder takes experiment money and cannot evidence how it was spent, it counts as unspent and rolls forward.

If they stop answering.

If a founder has gone quiet and is not answering, you do not have to wait for them. The payment is a card or SEPA mandate on your own account: your bank can revoke the mandate or reverse a charge, and you do not need our permission or theirs to ask. We would rather tell you that than leave you waiting on somebody who has stopped replying.

This is not an investment

Backing a founder is patronage. You get insider access, a voice, and recognition — not equity, interest, revenue share, or financial returns of any kind. If the founder succeeds, you helped; you do not own a piece of it.

Nothing you pay today earns a claim on anything in the second row. What is being built is a different product, offered under someone else's licence, that you would choose separately or not at all.
